Lead Engineer

Location: Swadlincote
Salary: Circa £45k
Hours: 0800-1630 Monday to Thursday, 0800-1330 Friday
Status: Permanent

Your Mission:

As a Lead Engineer, you will take charge of the technical design of customer projects globally. You'll act as the primary liaison between the company and its customers for project-specific design concepts, overseeing the entire project lifecycle from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Project Management: Oversee the planning and allocation of your team’s workload to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Design Execution: Perform detailed system designs according to customer specifications.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Lead project meetings and design reviews with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Documentation Review: Review and approve technical drawings and documentation.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in internal and external First Article Inspections.
  • Project Coordination: Develop and adhere to design timelines in line with customer specifications and project plans.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Serve as the primary interface for other departments on project-specific designs.
  • Team Development: Support and mentor the Design Engineering team, working closely with the Engineering Manager.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s, Master’s degree, or equivalent qualification (HNC) in Design, Manufacturing, Production, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: At least 4 years of engineering experience.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in CAD, particularly Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong technical understanding with the ability to analyze complex data.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage projects and workloads, driving tasks to completion on time.
  • Customer Focus: A customer-oriented approach with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Team Player: Collaborative with strong communication skills and the ability to work well with colleagues across different departments.
  • Organizational Skills: Well-organized, motivated, and adaptable with an open attitude.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to Travel: Must be able to travel within the UK and abroad as required.
